You liked the idea, so I’m doing it (again)
Bring your gently loved goods and make some new friends at the clothing swap, Marin Edition
@em_jazzz Clothing swap is finally here! I posted awhile ago about how fabulous it would be to all gather and trade the *good stuff* that’s no longer serving us. It took awhile to find a venue, but I just found an amazing one that’s ready to host us. ERIA on chestnut street in SF. It’s free, but to communicate event info, asking yall to register on eventbrite. Link in my bio. See you at the swap! #clothingswap #thrifttok #upcycledfashion #slowfashion #thrifting ♬ original sound - em-j
Frequently Asked Questions
-
A clothing swap is a gathering of people who get together to exchange clothing that they no longer wear for something from someone else's wardrobe. We're looking to promote circular fashion and connect like-minded community members.
-
We use a one-for-one system: bring an accepted item, get a ticket. Drop off your clothes when you arrive, guests will mingle while we set up the racks, and we'll open shopping at 7:30 PM. You can take one item for each ticket you've received.
-
This event is focused on the good stuff: think natural fibers, craftsman made, or designer goods - something you’d be thrilled to discover at a thrift store. For this event, we’ll swap clothing, shoes, and bags. For each accepted item, you'll receive a ticket to shop. For any items that aren't accepted to swap (think: fast fashion) but you'd still like to contribute, we'll include them in our free bin for anyone to take and donate them to charity after the event.
-
Bringing items doesn't guarantee you'll find something, since it depends on what everyone else brings that day. Either way, your contribution isn't wasted, it goes into the swap for someone else to enjoy and we’ll send you good vibes for your next swap or thrifting experience.
-
We use a one-for-one swap system — bring an item, take an item — so contributing is what makes the swap work for everyone. If you don't have anything to bring, you're welcome to come socialize and browse, you’re welcome - but shopping is reserved for those that have tickets. You can also message us at hello@emjazzz.com if you want to help at the event in exchange for a few shopping tickets!
-
We'd suggest anywhere from 2-4 items for our first event — this will keep the racks full without anyone showing up with too much for us to process upon check-in.
-
Please bring clean, gently used clothing, shoes, or bags with no stains, tears, holes, or broken zippers — think "would I be stoked to find it at a thrift store."
-
The event is free and there will be a cash bar hosted by ERIA Marina.
-
Accepted items will be kept as "starter stock" for our next event or may be donated to charity if we have too much to store.
-
No formal changing room, but feel free to layer clothes over what you're wearing.
-
veryone is welcome, all sizes and styles encouraged! Based on guest list of current RSVPs and prior event attendees, we will likely see mostly feminine leaning items.
